QR & barcodes
Generate and read QR, EAN, Code 128, Data Matrix and more.
What makes a code readable
A QR code contains text, and the difference between a useful one and one the phone cannot make sense of is not the graphics: it is the format of the content. A Wi-Fi network, a contact, an event and a bank transfer each have their own convention, and getting it wrong by one character means the phone shows a line of text instead of offering to connect. The QR generator builds them for you, field by field.
For print, two other things matter, and both are often got wrong. The white margin is part of the standard: it is not decoration, and below a certain width the scanner at the till stops picking the code up. And the format: SVG scales as far as you like without going blocky, so that is what goes to the printer; if it really has to be a PNG, do not go below 300 DPI.
The barcode generator covers EAN, UPC, Code 128, Code 39, ITF, Data Matrix, PDF417 and Aztec, with the check digit worked out to the standard. When there are many codes, Barcodes from CSV makes one per row of a list and Labels to PDF lays them out on a sheet of adhesive labels. Barcode reader goes the other way: from a photo or the camera to the content.
