How it works
Every page is scaled down and placed in a slot on the sheet, whole and centred: never cropped, never stretched, never blown up beyond its slot. The sheet and the grid are not picked from a table but from a calculation: among all the possible arrangements — sheet upright or on its side, pages in two columns or three — the winner is the one that makes the pages largest, and on A4 that produces the arrangements we are used to all by itself. Rotated pages are set straight the way a reader sees them, not the way they sit in the file. And it starts from what you see now: if the document has already been cropped, the crop stays, instead of bringing back the margin you removed.
Frequently asked questions
- How many PDFs can I arrange at once?
- Up to 10, each up to 40 MB and 120 MB in total. Every document becomes its own file with the same layout, and you can download them one by one or all together in a ZIP archive.
- How do I get bigger pages?
- By default the sheet is the size of the document’s page: with “2 per sheet”, two A4 pages land on one A4 sheet at about two thirds of their size. Pick an A3 sheet in the advanced options and the same two pages stay almost full size.
- How do I print the booklet so it reads in order?
- Print the file double-sided, flipping on the short edge (some printers call it short-edge binding). Then take the stack exactly as it comes out, fold it in half and, if you like, staple it along the fold.
- I filled in a form. Will the answers show up on the sheets?
- Not while they sit in the form fields: only what is drawn on the page comes through here. Lock the form first with “Lock a PDF form”, which turns the answers into part of the page, then arrange the resulting file here and they’ll appear on the sheets like everything else.
