How it works
The watermark is placed over the content like a stamp: what was underneath stays intact, and the document stays searchable. It can be text or an image, not both at once. It adapts to the shape of each page, one by one, and on rotated pages it comes out upright for the reader. You can limit it to some pages by typing ranges in the advanced options, such as 1-3, 7, 10-; if one isn’t in the document, the summary tells you.
Frequently asked questions
- How many PDFs can I watermark at once?
- Up to 50, each up to 200 MB and 400 MB in total. They all get the same watermark, on the same pages if you picked some, and you can download them one by one or all together in a ZIP archive.
- Can I add both a logo and some text?
- Yes, in two passes: apply the text, then drop the file you get back in here, choose “An image” and apply the logo. The second watermark goes on top of the first. Both sit in the middle of the page and cross each other: if that bothers you, shrink one of them in the advanced options.
- Will searching the PDF find the watermark text?
- Yes: the text is real text, so searching the document for “DRAFT” finds it, and it can turn up when you copy text from the page. A logo, on the other hand, is an image, and a search won’t find it.
- My PDF has a password. Will it stay protected?
- No. You can type the password in the file’s row: the preview appears, and pressing the button applies the watermark. But the file you download has no protection left. If it needs to stay protected, run it through “Protect PDF” at the end and set the password again.
